This was a semester long unit/project study, which took us from globalization, to the industrial revolution, to modern-day work standards and changes. We looked at many varying topics from all three areas, and did many research mini-projects leading up to the point of our large-scale product. This took the form of a podcast on any labor issue or explanation of a topic, as long as it could be easily related back to the central unit.
This was a writing test we did about halfway through the unit, during our study of globalization. We chose a topic, did some research for around a week or so, and wrote these in one hour.

Soon after the timed writing, we moved from globalization to modern labor issues, and we were tasked to create presentations on one aspect. I chose Automation, along with two other students. We created a slideshow, and presented it to the class.

For this project, we took a look at examples of podcasts, gathered information on the techniques used, and then made one. Our topics were all based around labor issues, ranging from Economic Inequality to the work behind Sandwiches. Of course, the latter is what I made.

And this, the infamous BLT Breakdown.
Well not really infamous, I suppose, mainly just silly and vaguely academic as described in the podcast. This was pretty fun, actually. I really enjoy Audio/Video editing and this was a fun way to practice the basics of podcast editing, which was something I hadn't worked with much prior. |
